Privacy Policy
The short version: RUSTLANDS does not collect any data. The game has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and it does not connect to any server. Your progress stays on your device. When you play co-op, your device talks directly to the devices of the players near you, and to nobody else.
This policy explains what the RUSTLANDS app does with information. "We" and "us" means Rust Sun Games, the developer of RUSTLANDS.
1. Information we collect
None. The app does not send personal information, usage data, diagnostics, identifiers or location to us or to any third party. We do not use advertising identifiers (IDFA), we do not track you across apps or websites, and we do not sell or share data, because we never receive any.
The game does not ask for your location, camera, microphone, contacts or photos. The only permission it asks for is Local Network, which co-op needs (section 3).
2. What stays on your device
- Saves and settings. Your hero, progress and options are stored on your device, inside the app's own storage. Deleting the app deletes them. We cannot see or restore them.
- Your own device backups. If you back up your iPhone or iPad to iCloud or to a computer, Apple includes the game's saves in your backup, as it does for other apps. That backup is yours; we have no access to it.
- Save code. Options has a "Save code" you can copy to move your hero to another device yourself. The code is created on your device; it is only shared if you choose to paste or send it somewhere.
- Earlier web version. If you played the earlier version of RUSTLANDS on the same device, the new version reads that save from the device once, so your hero carries over. This happens on the device only.
3. Playing with friends nearby (co-op)
Co-op works only between devices that are close to each other. It uses Apple's peer-to-peer networking over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. It needs no internet connection, and nothing passes through a server or a relay: the devices talk to each other directly. iOS asks for your permission to use the local network before the game looks for players.
While you host a game or look for one, nearby devices that are doing the same in RUSTLANDS can see the player name you typed. During a co-op session the game sends that name (up to 20 characters) and the state of the game directly to the other players' devices: for example the game version and world, positions and moves, fights, the gear your hero shows, loot, gold and trades. We never receive any of it.
The other players see your player name while you play together, so do not use your real name if you prefer not to.
4. Analytics, diagnostics and crash reports
The game has no analytics. It does not send crash reports, diagnostics or usage statistics to us, to Unity (the maker of the game engine) or to anyone else. The engine's own diagnostics and statistics services are switched off in the versions we release.
What Apple may share with us. The App Store is run by Apple. If you agreed in your device settings to share analytics or crash reports with app developers, Apple may give us aggregated, anonymous statistics (such as the number of installs) and crash reports. These are handled under Apple's privacy policy, and we use them only to fix problems in the game. You can turn this off in your device's Settings under Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements.
5. iCloud
This version of RUSTLANDS does not use iCloud. A later version may add a backup of your saves to your own iCloud account, so that a new or reset device can get your hero back. If it does, that backup will be kept by Apple in your iCloud account, and we will not be able to see or read it. This policy will be updated before such a version is released.
6. Purchases
This version of RUSTLANDS has no in-app purchases. If optional purchases are added later, payment is handled entirely by Apple; we never see your payment details. This policy will be updated before then if anything about data changes.
7. Children
RUSTLANDS is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The game does not collect personal information from anyone. In co-op, the player name a player types is shown to the nearby players they join, so we recommend not using a real name. Parents who have questions can contact us using the address below.
8. If you email us
If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message, such as a screenshot. Our mailbox is hosted by Gmail (Google). We use your message only to answer you and to fix the problem you describe, we do not add you to any mailing list, and we delete it on request.
Because the game sends us nothing, we hold no other data about you: there is nothing else for us to show, correct or delete.
9. This website
This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts. It is hosted by Netlify, and Netlify may keep standard server logs (such as IP addresses) for security, under Netlify's privacy policy.
10. Changes to this policy
If a future version adds anything that sends data off your device (for example online play over the internet, an iCloud backup, purchases or crash reporting), we will update this policy and the App Store privacy details before that version is released, and change the date at the top of this page.
